FAQ

Questions we are asked most

Short answers about what RemedyReady is, how it works and what it costs. For the process itself, see What happens at each hearing; for the words, the Definitions.

What RemedyReady is

Is RemedyReady a law firm?

No. RemedyReady is a website that helps you prepare your own court documents. It is run by Split Right Ltd, which is not a law firm, is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the Bar Standards Board and does not give legal advice or act for anyone. The documents are built from what you enter and are for you to check, complete and file yourself. See the legal disclaimer.

It says it was designed by a barrister. Does a barrister check my documents?

No. The templates, structure and guidance were written by a family barrister with thirty years' practice, which is why the documents look the way judges expect. Nobody reviews what you create unless you take it to a lawyer yourself. The founder does not advise or accept instructions through this site.

Can I use RemedyReady if I have a solicitor?

Yes. Some people use it to prepare a first draft to save their solicitor's time, or to understand what their solicitor has produced. If you are represented, your solicitor is responsible for what is filed, so give them anything you prepare rather than filing it yourself.

Does it cover civil partnerships and cases outside England and Wales?

Civil partnership dissolution, yes: the same forms and procedure apply and the documents adjust their wording. Scotland and Northern Ireland have different law and courts and RemedyReady does not cover them.

How it works

Where is my information stored?

On your own device, in your browser. Nothing you type into the case file is sent to us or to anyone else. If you upload a Form E to read the figures from it, the reading happens in your browser too. Save the case file to a file on your computer if you want to keep it or move it to another device; clearing your browser's data will delete it.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no login. When you pay, the document is unlocked on the device you paid on and you are given a private link that unlocks it on another device. Your purchases are listed under "My documents" on the Hearings & documents page.

How long do I have access after paying?

A document stays unlocked for the period shown when you buy it and you can change it on screen as many times as you like in that time. You may download it once, so check it on screen first. Anything you download is yours to keep and edit in Word or a PDF reader.

Is RemedyReady the right help for my case?

For most financial remedy cases, yes: the documents are built from your own entries, in the form the court expects, for you to check and sign. They are not the right help on their own if there is or has been domestic abuse in your relationship (including controlling or coercive behaviour); if you or the other party may lack capacity; if you believe assets are being hidden, or the case involves a business, a trust, assets abroad or a very large estate; if the case is in the High Court or a judge has told you to get advice; or if you are not sure what you should be asking for. In those cases take advice first (our Suggested lawyers and free help page lists paid and free sources); you can still use the documents with that advice. We ask you to confirm you have read this before every purchase.

Can I see the whole document before I pay?

You see the top of the document, built from your figures, so you can confirm it is working from your case. The full document appears once you pay and you can still change every figure and sentence before you download it.

What do I get: Word or PDF?

Official court forms (Form E, Form A, Form D81 and the rest) are completed as PDFs of the official form. Drafted documents (position statements, witness statements, questionnaires, orders, agreements, letters) are Word files in the court's house style, so you can edit them.

Does RemedyReady file documents with the court for me?

No. You file and serve your own documents, in your own name, by email, post or at the counter as the court directs. The Applications page and the deadline calculator tell you where and when.

Can the other party and I use one case file?

Each of you keeps your own case file, because each of you files your own documents. A separation agreement is built for both of you from one case file and priced once.

Paying

How much does it cost?

Each document has a fixed price, shown on the Hearings & documents page and the hearing packs bundle the documents for each hearing at a lower price. There are no subscriptions and no hourly charges. The court's own fees (for example £321 to issue Form A) are separate and paid to the court.

Can I get a refund?

Not if you change your mind. Your documents are unlocked on screen the moment you pay and before you pay we ask you to agree to that and to confirm that you give up the 14-day right to cancel. If there is a fault with your document, tell us what is wrong and we will make sure it is fixed for you; if it cannot be put right, you may be entitled to some or all of your money back. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected. See the terms and how to tell us about a fault.

Is there help with the cost?

Our prices are fixed and low compared with an hour of a solicitor's time and the free tools cost nothing. For the court fee, Help with Fees on GOV.UK can reduce or remove it if you are on a low income. For free legal help, see Suggested lawyers and free help.

The documents

Are the forms up to date?

Each official form is the version published on GOV.UK when we last checked and we re-check before launch and regularly after it. The guidance follows the Financial Remedies Guide 2026 and the Family Procedure Rules. Forms and rules change, so the court's version and the directions in your case take priority. See Official forms and copyright.

Will the court accept a document made with RemedyReady?

The documents follow the official forms and the standard orders, so there is nothing about them that marks them out. Whether a document is accepted is always for the court and it depends on what you put in it and whether you file it correctly and on time. We cannot guarantee acceptance or any outcome.

Can I use the documents in a children case, or for a Schedule 1 claim?

RemedyReady covers money and property: financial remedy on divorce or dissolution and financial provision for a child under Schedule 1 to the Children Act 1989 (Form A1, Form E1 and the Schedule 1 witness statement). It does not cover child arrangements, which are a separate kind of case.

Not legal advice. RemedyReady is a document-preparation tool and information service run by Split Right Ltd. We are not a law firm, we are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the Bar Standards Board and we do not give legal advice or act for you. Every case is different and our guidance describes the law in general terms and may contain errors or become out of date: check important points against the official source, follow the court's directions in your case and take advice on your own situation from a solicitor, a barrister instructed directly, or a free service such as Advocate, Citizens Advice or a Law Centre.
