1. Who we are
RemedyReady is a trading name of Split Right Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17351365), whose registered office is at [registered office address]. You can contact us at hello@remedyready.law.
2. What RemedyReady is and what it is not
RemedyReady provides online tools that help you prepare documents for financial remedy proceedings in the family courts of England and Wales, together with general information about the process.
- RemedyReady does not give legal advice. The tools and information are general. They do not take account of all the facts of your case and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer.
- No lawyer acts for you. Using RemedyReady does not create a lawyer–client relationship. No solicitor or barrister reviews the documents you create.
- RemedyReady is independent. It is not part of, or approved by, the court, HM Courts & Tribunals Service or the judiciary. Official forms are Crown copyright and are used under the Open Government Licence.
- We do not act for you in your case. We do not file documents, correspond with the other party or the court, or attend hearings.
- No reserved legal activities and no regulator. Split Right Ltd does not carry on any activity reserved to lawyers by the Legal Services Act 2007 (such as the conduct of litigation or rights of audience). It is not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Bar Standards Board or CILEx Regulation and is not within the Legal Ombudsman scheme. One of the founders, Maria Scotland, is a practising barrister regulated by the Bar Standards Board in her own practice; she does not advise, accept instructions or act for anyone through RemedyReady.
- No guarantee of acceptance by the court. Whether a form is accepted, an order approved or a bundle admitted is for the court. We do not guarantee any outcome or decision.
If you are unsure about any aspect of your case, take independent legal advice. Our legal disclaimer says more about what RemedyReady is and is not and lists free sources of help.
3. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the information you enter. The documents are only as accurate as the figures and facts you provide.
- You must check every document before you file it with the court or send it to anyone and make sure it is true, complete and up to date. Several court documents include a statement of truth and making a false statement in such a document may be a contempt of court.
- If you upload a Form E, RemedyReady reads the figures automatically. Automatic reading can make mistakes and it cannot read scanned forms. You must check every figure on the check screen against the form itself before you add it to your case file.
- Documents the other party has disclosed to you in the proceedings, including their Form E, are confidential. You may use them only for the purposes of the proceedings. Uploading one to RemedyReady does not send it to us or to anyone else.
- You are responsible for meeting court deadlines and for filing and serving documents as the rules and any court order require.
- You must not use RemedyReady for anyone else's case in return for payment unless you buy for your work under the terms below. Nobody may copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service.
4. Your information stays on your device
The case file you build is stored in your own web browser and in any case file you choose to save to your device. It is not sent to us. A Form E that you upload is read on your device in the same way and is not sent to us. If you clear your browser's data or use a different device, you will need your saved case file to continue. See our privacy notice.
5. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown on the website before you buy. Split Right Ltd is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged on our prices.
- Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
- A pack or document is for use in one set of proceedings.
How long your purchase lasts
- Access period. When you buy a single document or a hearing pack, you can build, change and download the documents you have bought for 42 days from the date of payment. When you buy Whole case, the period is 18 months from the date of payment.
- Downloads. During the access period you can change your figures and wording on screen as often as you like. You can download or copy each document once for each purchase, so check every figure and every word on screen before you download it. We will remind you of this before each download.
- What you keep. Every document you download is yours to keep, edit and use in your proceedings. It does not expire.
- After the access period or your download. The website will no longer let you download that document. If you need a new version, you can buy the document or pack again at the price then shown.
- Your saved case file. The end of the access period does not affect the case file saved on your own device, which you can open again if you buy later.
- No refunds for a change of mind. Payments are not refundable if you change your mind, because the documents are unlocked on screen as soon as you pay (see section 6). If a document is faulty we will fix it and if it cannot be put right you may be entitled to some or all of your money back (see section 7).
6. Your right to cancel
Our documents are digital content, supplied online. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you would normally have 14 days to cancel. Supply begins the moment you pay, because the documents you have bought are unlocked on screen at once and can be read, changed and copied from then on. For that reason we ask you, before you pay, to agree to immediate supply and to acknowledge that you lose your right to cancel as soon as the documents are unlocked. You cannot pay without giving that agreement and once you have paid there is no right to cancel and no refund for a change of mind. This does not affect your rights if a document is faulty (section 7).
Wording shown at checkout: “I want my documents unlocked now. I understand that I lose my 14-day right to cancel once they are unlocked.” You are also shown, beside that box, our policy: no refunds if you change your mind; faulty documents fixed; statutory rights unaffected.
7. If something is wrong with a document
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If there is a fault with a document we supply, tell us what is wrong (section 10 says how) and we will make sure it is fixed for you. Our "no refunds" policy is about changing your mind; it does not take away the rights the Act gives you if a fault cannot be put right (which may include a price reduction or a refund of some or all of the price) and nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
8. Our responsibility to you
- We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill and keep our templates in line with the current rules, forms and standard orders.
- The procedure guides, Definitions, calculators and checklists are general information, checked against official sources on the dates shown. They may contain errors or become out of date and they are not advice on your case. Check anything important against the official source and the order made in your case.
- We cannot guarantee the outcome of your case. Decisions are made by the court on the evidence and the law.
- We are not responsible for loss caused by incorrect or incomplete information you provide, by your failure to check a document, or by missed deadlines.
- We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when you bought from us, or for business losses.
- Subject to the next point, our total responsibility to you is limited to the price you paid for the product concerned.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
If you buy for your work
Most of our customers are people acting in their own case and these terms are written for them. If you buy as a solicitor, barrister, McKenzie friend or other professional, or otherwise in the course of a business, the following also apply: the consumer cancellation rights in section 6 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 rights in section 7 do not apply to you; you remain responsible for checking every document against your client's instructions, the rules and the order in the case; you must not enter a client's details into the tool without the client's authority and our privacy notice explains that the information stays on your device; and our total responsibility to you is limited to the price you paid for the product concerned, except for anything that cannot be limited by law.
9. Intellectual property
Official court forms are Crown copyright, reproduced under the Open Government Licence v3.0; see Official forms and copyright. The RemedyReady name and logo are trade marks of Split Right Ltd (applications pending). The website, its text and its design belong to Split Right Ltd. The paintings and the sparrows in our logo are by Rosie Dilys and are used under licence. Documents you create are yours to use in your own case or, if you buy for your work, in your client's case.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy, email complaints@remedyready.law with your name, what went wrong and what you would like us to do. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and give you a full response within 14 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you may refer the matter to a certified alternative dispute resolution body or to the courts; because Split Right Ltd is not a law firm, the Legal Ombudsman cannot consider complaints about it. See Contact us.
11. Changes and general terms
- We may update these terms. The version that applies is the one on the website when you buy.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
